How to get to Pochomil Viejo from the Airport:

If you travel to Nicaragua, you will probably come through Managua’s international airport known as Aeropuerto Las Mercedes, ask for a map from the car rental company and head to Carretera Sur .

 

  1. From Managua take Carretera Sur towards Rivas or Costa Rica until km 9.

  2. Carretera Sur turns right becoming Carretera Leon Viejo, stay on this road until km 30. Do not turn onto Carretera Sur.

  3. At the intersection of km 30, turn left on a cobbled street until km 62 where the road ends.

  4. Turn right to Masachapa/Montelimar/Pochomil for 4.3 kms.

  5. Turn left on the first paved street, direction Pochomil (South).

  6. Drive 1.8 km on a paved road, cross the bridge, gas station and the entrance to the Pochomil popular alley (it is on the right).

  7. At the end of the paved road continue 2.2 km on a dirt road, always straight.

  8. Turn right for 1.1 km until you are in front of the sea, Arnoldo Alemán’s house is on the right.

  9. Turn left towards Pochomil Viejo. Exact directions to the house will be given when booking

 

Pochomil is close to all the action:

  • 1:00 hour to Managua (75 km)

  • 1:15 hours to Granada (75 kms) – Mombacho, Isletas, museums, churches

  • 1:15 hours to Masaya (70 kms) – Volcan, craft market

  • 1:30 hours to Leon (90 kms) – Leon Viejo, museums, churches

  • 2:00 hours to Costa Rica (145 kms) – Peñas Blancas Border

  • 2:30 hours to Honduras (180 km)

  • 3:00 hours to Matagalpa (200 km)

 

Travel time may vary depending on road conditions, traffic and speed.
